Big Changes to Come For Blackouthouse.com

It's been long overdue
but there are some BIG changes to come to Blackouthouse. We have
been looking at adding more ways to upload stories, pics and stats
to the site. But with so many big changes means lots of trial and
error. So we'll be starting off slowly and implementing all this in
stages. Our first step is to start utilising Google's free "Docs"
service to store games stats. We'll make this available soon so look
for this to happen soon! After that... well... I'll keep that to
myself for now but I can only say that it's going to be the biggest
change since going online in 2001! All in time for Blackout's 20th
anniversary!
Blackout Around The World!

Just received another
photo of a Blackout player in a famous landmark overseas. This time
it's from both Rob and Richo. It was taken during their climb on
Everest to the base camp. A rather smashing effort on their behalf.
If anyone in the team is heading OS then remember to keep the
Blackout tradition of pictures in the Blackout uniform going and
email your shots in! Anyone wanting to leave your comments on Rob
and Richo's pic then
click here! While you're there you should check out Rob's pics
from the mountain. There are some unbelievable shots in amongst it
with photo's that most of us will never get the chance to snap!
Really worth the time to visit his Flickr site.
Below are our past
efforts from Langy and myself with Langy in the Tube in England and
me checking out China's capital city in Tiananmen Square!

Round 2: Blackout 55 - Dot
Ball 97

Tonight's scoreline was
so misleading to the effort we put in. But it remains the result
regardless. Our big let down tonight was in the batting. We just
succumbed to some blistering accurate bowling that rattled our
stumps on five occasions. Also not helping was a six hit in a double
over to squash our hopes of keeping a skin.
Negatives aside however
there was one BIG plus from the night. New comer, Rob, just
continues to impress. He hardly misses when shooting at the stumps,
he knows when to slog or block a ball when batting and bowling is no
problem for him either. Glad to have new blood on the team!
Next weeks challenge is
against "We've Got the Runs". Last time we played these boys we
suffered a loss. Hopefully things will be different this time round!
Round 13: Blackout 86 - Dot
Ball 127

This was not suppose to
be a difficult match. Not to sound arrogant or anything but these
guys have only had one win all season and our previous encounters
have always been... relaxed. But something was different tonight.
They seemed more switched on. Could it have something to do with the
big beefy guy wearing the "Baseball" shirt and the other new guy who
was pumped up and fielding like a demon up the back? Well... ring
ins or not... we had to face up to these guys. But we failed to
"step up to the plate". (more to come)...

Kerry O'KeeFfe Urges
Blackout On!!!
Brian Costelloe
(20-5-08)
Yours truly has managed
to get the scoop of the year. Past spinner legend, Kerry O'Keeffe, has
signed his latest offering urging Blackout on! This is not our first
run in with the off beat and comical ABC Grandstand commentator.
Loges has sent into us in the past a pic of him with Kerry O'Keefe
at the SCG during the Ashes.
As for the book itself, it's a fun
insight into many events (not all cricket related) that the man himself has
encountered over the years. From trying to win a telly to avoid being forced
into watching docos to outrunning old grannies from a potentially explosive
Ansett plane at Brisbane airport! Definitely worth a looking for fathers day!
Round 12: Blackout 178 -
Dot Ball 91

(20-5-08)

With a full line up we
were going into this match full of confidence. However we didn't
think we'd romp it in like we did. In all fairness Dot Balls only
had 6 players. But it was the sheer ferocity in which we applied our
dominance on the field. Our first partnership (Mark and Todd)
slapped 'em 41 to 13 runs. This continued on with the second pair
just scoring enough to sneer the next skin. But it was when yours
truly and Richo took to the field. Our first over was frankly shite.
Only 6 runs to boast of. But from the second over onwards it was a
slog fest. Four 6's were smashed by me along with a flurry of other
punishing back net shots that made a mockery of their bowling. 69
runs in all from our partnership pretty much sealed the game up. Rob
and Langy finished up in a tidy fashion with 36 runs.
